"When Sunset Brings Me You"

Ardella wrote to Yvonne Klepinger:

"I thought you would like this copy. We lived in Wyoming one winter, in a two room cabin and I would watch out the west window each evening to see Elmer returning from his work as Inspector of potatoes in the big underground rooms a mile from where we lived. One evening I wrote this poem."

I'm waiting for the sun to set
Because it brings me you.
To see and hold you close
once more,
and know that you are near.
Even tho the days are full of
trials and long have been
the hours
The silver lining of my
cloud I find,
When Sunset brings me you.
The shadows lengthen
the Day is done
A longing thrills me through
To hear your step,
your gentle voice and feel your
tender touch.
Sweet memories linger as I wait
A prayer I breath in Thanks,
For now I know it
won't be long
Till Sunset brings me you.

"Written in memory of my experiences when in the hospital in Lancaster, PA.

My thoughts had always been
that I must look far above
those soft and fleecy
clouds to "Talk to Him."
Into the clear and blue of
summer's sky, past the
twinkle of wonderful stars
and moon's golden film.
But now alone I lie, save
only for the nurse as she
goes quietly by,
And I have talked with Him.
A soothing pressure came to
me, and worry, pain and
anguish from me fell,
For He drew near as tho a soft
and tender hand had touched
my fevered brow and
He so gently whispered, "All is Well."
While I in reverence bow,
to talk with Him.

"A pastor read this and thought it extra good and wonderful how I came to write it, when I was so very ill. Keep this among your files."
